Blue herringbone cancel, rich colors; small hole as a result of herringbone cut cancel & a couple trivial surface abrasions, otherwise Fine, Scott catalog value in the grade of fine and with small faults, ex-Newport, Curtis, with 1974, 2007 and 2015 P.F. certificates.

Larry Lyons in his census of Scott R111a records only thirteen singles and a pair and notes that one single and one stamp in the pair are sound.

Neat 1871 manuscript cancel, exceptional centering amid evenly balanced margins all around, wonderfully rich colors not normally encountered on this issue; inconsequential minute natural inclusion not mentioned on clear certificate, a Superb gem, ex-Weill, with 2016 P.S.E. Graded certificate (Superb 98).

CONSIDERED TO BE THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF THE 1871 $200 "SMALL PERSIAN RUG" ISSUE IN REGARDS TO CENTERING, COLOR AND OVERALL CONDITION.

A P.S.E. Graded 90 example was sold for $17,000 hammer price in Siegel's March 2014 sale.

Documentary, 1871, Second Issue, $500 "Persian Rug". Neat face free circular cut cancel, deep rich colors, very well centered especially for this difficult oversized issue; tiny thin spot, otherwise Extremely Fine, Scott catalog value for small faults, ex-Joyce, Zoellner and Floyd, with 2001 P.F. certificate.

AN EXCEPTIONAL WELL CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE $500.00 LARGE PERSIAN RUG WITH CONDITION FAR BETTER THAN NORMALLY ENCOUNTERED.

Only 210 $500 "Large Persian Rugs" were issued with most examples faulty to some degree. The example here is far better than most having only a thin flaw. The Kingsley census records 76 copies, and a handful are known outside of the census.

Neat blue 36 in circle cancel, strong vivid color, attractively centered and far better than the majority of these issue; few small surface scuffs at right hardly detracting, Very Fine appearance, ex-Cunliffe, with 2015 P.F. certificate.

ONE OF THE FINER EXAMPLES OF THE 1872 15¢ THIRD ISSUE WITH INVERTED CENTER BEARING A COMPLIMENTARY HANDSTAMP COLOR CANCELLATION.

The Larry Lyons census records only 13 singles and one pair of this issue. Of these most are poorly centered and almost half bearing cut cancels.
