Providence, R.I., 1846, 5¢ gray black (Scott 10X1), real stamp on counterfeit cover, a well-worn folded letter sheet to Taunton, Mass., with red straightline "PAID" and black (rather than correct red) "5" and "Providence/Nov/14/R.I" handstamps, the adhesive tied by a manuscript "X"; the stamp sound with full to large margins, cleanly printed with wonderful detail, Very Fine stamp, an interesting piece.
