Post Paid Reply Postal Card "Essay". Two cards, first with manuscript "…this shows the principle only of J. Neale’s Double, or Return, or Reply, Postal Card. To open or shut this card, press the catches against each other and they will lock or unlock with ease." and second with "This half of the card is intended to be separated from the other half and with the reply returned to the sender who would write (or have boldly printed thereon) their, his or her own address.", the "catches" are missing, both cards bearing 1¢ dark ultramarine (182), first tied perfectly struck Star in Starburst (Cole STU-36) fancy duplexed with "Ilion N.Y., Sep 5, 1881" cds to local Ilion address, the return replay card is unused with 1¢ left uncancelled, Very Fine and clever essay.
