Bulkeley, Morgan (1837-1922; American politician, businessman, and sports executive), signature "M G Bulkeley" as Governor of Connecticut on an 1889 document appointing Samuel Chesebro as a Notary Public in New London county, document (8-+x14) folded vertically three times with one fold through strong signature, Very Fine; served as President of the Aetna Insurance Co for 43 years, was Governor of Connecticut (1889-93), US Senator from Connecticut (1905-11) and, more importantly, he founded the professional baseball team in Hartford in 1874, was first president of professional baseball's National League and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937 (Image)
