Carson Valley, U.T. Jul 1. Neat strike of cds ties two 3¢ dull red (11) singles, bright and fresh, on buff cover to San Francisco Cal., Very Fine and choice.
Estimate; $300 - 400.

Charles P. Kimball came to San Francisco in July 1849. After unsuccessfully trying his hand at mining, he opened a stationery and book store.

The Carson Valley post office opened Dec. 10, 1852 in Utah Territory and became Nevada Territory in 1861. The first post office in Nevada. Carson Valley P.O. name changed to Genoa in 1863.
