1916-20 Six scarce US Navy covers  sent by Theodore G Ellyson (Naval Aviator No. 1) sent to his wife in the US from European waters and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Postmarks include the rare USS SOUTHARD, USS SOUTH CAROLINA (2), Squadron Patrol Force (at Spalato), U.S. Naval Forces Europe, and U.S. Navy Base No. 27 (Liverpool). Two covers missing stamps. Very scarce covers sent by a very important Naval Officer, who died in 1928 on this 43rd Birthday in a airplane crash in the Chesapeake Bay. Also four WWII navy covers from the USS San Francisco.
