Bayonne City Dispatch, 1883, 1¢ black. Large margins with strong impression used with 1¢ gray blue (206) and 2¢ vermilion (183), all tied by square segmented cork cancel duplexed with "Bergen Point, N.J. Jun 14 1883" cds on cover to Jacob Johnson, Bergen Point N.Y.; top left corner opening flaw, otherwise Very Fine and exceptionally rare combination use, with 1984 P.F. certificate.

ONE OF ONLY TWO 1¢, 2¢ BANK NOTE COMBINATION FRANKINGS WITH THE BAYONNE CITY DESPATCH LOCAL.

The Bayonne City Dispatch was a local post company that operated for a short period of April 1883 to June 1883. It provided inhabitants of Bayonne, Van Buskirk, and Slaterville faster mail service than the government post office with three daily deliveries.
