33L6, 1862 California City Letter Express, (Hoogs & Madi- sons) San Francisco 10¢ green single, large margins all around except touching along top, manuscript cancelled not tied on locally used red and blue Flag and Globe Civil War patriotic cover, originally placed upside down next to patriotic design and later moved to its current position prior to the Caspary sale, cover without backflap and stamp with light vertical crease from fold; One of two recorded examples of the 10¢ green type II and the only example known on cover, additionally it is the only California City Letter Express stamp known used on a patriotic; ex-Caspary (H.R. Cincinnati 2¢ black on green single, large margins all around tied by manuscript "X" on FRONT showing a triple forwarding usage; originated in Cincinnati, addressed to Pittsburgh, redirected to Philadelphia, forwarded to NYC and finally arrived in Albany NY; various manuscript rates added to a total charge of 25¢; only seven covers bearing the Frazer 2¢ black on green stamp have been recorded, this is certainly among the most interesting usages; the cover with a small area of ink erosion mended at the bottom; ex-Caspary (H.R.
