Confederacy, Helena, Ark, May 6, 1861. Circular date stamp tying U.S. 1857, 3¢ dull red on cover to Newark, O., with original enclosure datelined "La Grange, May 6th/61" with interesting contents regarding difficulty of getting mail through and stopping boats on the Mississippi (C.S.A. certificate with no opinion as to day date), F.-V.F., a early independent state usage which in all likelihood is the First Day of Arkansas Secession, with 1983 P.F. & 1998 C.S.A. certificates.
