1954 National Institute of Oceanography "Oil Pollution Investigation" Business Reply Card, dropped by aircraft into the North East Atlantic to investigate ocean currents, found on North Beach, Herm (Aug 22), posted back to Wormley with a London machine (Aug 27) and arrival cachet. Believed to be the only card from these 1954 experiments to have been found on Herm.

1847-1985 Local stamps and postal history, the collection written up in an album and loose including 1847 letter concerning the lease of the island and 1884 letter from the island concerning wood washed ashore from a wreck (both without covers), picture postcards (4, one with scarce 1931 "HERM GUERNSEY / CHANNEL ISLANDS" double ring c.d.s.), 1949-69 local issues including proofs or colour trials (25) and covers (55), and 1969-85 datestamps (17). The local stamp issues include 1949 Pigeon Service used pigeongram and cover; 1953 1d bisects (2 covers); 1954 BEA 3d surcharge proofs in black on 1/2d imperf pair, 1d pair, 3d partly imperf block of four and 3d strip of three; 1954 3d issued surcharge in blue in a sheet of 30 and on covers (6, two delayed by storm); 1954 8 doubles bisects (3 covers); 1954 triangular imperf proofs (12); 1954 6d on £1 voucher; 1957 1d bisects (2 cards); 1958-59 2/- and 3/- booklets; 1961 Europa imperf proofs (2); 1962 "Delayed By Storm" cachet, etc. A good collection.
