Hamakuapoko, Maui, Oct 17 1892 postmark type 281.01 on postal card (Scott UX4, badly scuffed into indicium), addressed to Walter Hill Esq, Postmaster General, Honolulu, clear 24mm-25mm double circle "Honolulu Hawaii, M.O.B., Oct 17 1892" strike at top, likely used as a receiving mark, but possibly picked up and used as a money order receipt as the message on reverse is about obtaining payment for a money to be authorized by Honolulu payable at the Hamakuapoko post office, very unusual and not reported as far as we can find.rnWalter Hill replaced Fred Wundenburg as PMG in May of 1891 on the Queen's orders. Hill became ill in early 1893 and his family committed him to an insane asylum. His resignation was effective April 1, 1893. (Image)
