Hawaii, Waiahole, Oahu, Apr 3, 1889. Clear full strike of purple cds (282.023, 1RRRR) on 1882, 1¢ postal card to Chicago, Ill., uprated with 1883, 1¢ green and tied by matching target handstamps, "Honolulu, H.I., Apr 5, 1889" cds and partial red San Francisco transit postmark, Very Fine and choice.

THE FINER OF TWO ON COVER EXAMPLES OF THE WAIAHOLE POSTMARK.

Prior to the discovery of this postal card, only a June 5th 1889 postal card with the uprate stamp missing and a off cover stamp were the only known examples. The off-cover stamp sold in our Gary Peters Collection of Hawaii sale (Sale 65, 3/18/16) for $2,800 hammer.
