Hawaii, 1866, King Kamehameha V, 5¢ blue. Canceled by faint negative "HI" oval (Davey #151) and tied by quartered cork cancel of San Francisco along with United States, 10¢ green (68) on circa 1869 orange cover to Galena Ill., red "Honolulu, Hawaiian-Islands, Apr 21" cds, "San Francisco Cal. May 6" cds; small opening tear at top left, 10¢ nick at top, Fine, ex-Honolulu Advertiser & Twigg-Smith, with 2007 P.F. certificate.
Scott No. 32; Estimate $750 - 1,000.

Although this was franked for Hawaiian Steam Service, this was apparently sent by non-contract ship and was therefore overpaid.

Hawaii, 1871, King Kamehameha V, 6¢ yellow green. Tied by 3-ring target with center pin (Ty. 119), used with United States, 3¢ Green (158) on 1878 cover to Setauket N.Y., the 3c is also tied by red "G.P.O. Honolulu, Paid All, Feb 3" double-circle datestamp but is otherwise uncancelled, as it did not pay any rate since the 6¢ treaty rate did not require domestic U.S. postage, magenta "San Francisco, Paid All, Feb 18" transit cds at left; light vertical cover crease at center, Very Fine and interesting combination use, ex-Honolulu Advertiser, Twigg-Smith, with 2007 P.F. certificate.

Scott No. 33; Estimate $150 - 200.

Letter was addressed to Pola, which was the Naval Headquarters and now part of Italy. The addressee was Dr Alexander Kukic with rank of Frigate Physician, Marine Garrison.

Large red handstamped overprint, each spanning two stamps, red manuscript "Jan 1888" in top selvage, and faint violet "Return To…" archival handstamp at the top, top sheet margin imprint block of 10, o.g., stamps never hinged, exceptionally well centered with brilliant color; some separation in selvage (one piece of selvage missing), Very Fine. Possibly unique., ex-d'Assiss.
