Interesting cover, letter & currency from 1880, man in Maryland sent $2.25 in fractional currency to Treasury Dept for redemption; reply arrived by registered Official Mail envelope w/ (3) large wax seals, without postage, government form "Returns for United States Currency (Paper) Redeemed" where he was reimbursed $1 and learned $1.25 was counterfeit; the 25¢ & 50¢ fractional currency is still here, quite in tatters, marked "Counterfeit" and folded in original envelope.
