GREAT BRITAIN; July 1919 Crossing of Airship "R34" from USA to England, envelope with "Knights of Columbus/ War Activities" cc franked with GB 1½d, ms "Across the Atlantic on English dirigible R.34" with a return address of "J W Cullinan/ Naval Air Stat/ Montauk, L.I.", cover some minor faults but still Fine and rare piece of mail carried on the first transatlantic air mail flight; with 1986 Sieger document discussing the coverrnAccompanied by original enclosure from US Airship pioneer James W Cullinan (pilot who perished in crash of USS Shenandoah). The envelope was handed over to a crew member of R34 who posted the letter in Harleston 3 days after R34 landed. From there, the cover travelled to the addressee in Binghamton NY. (Image)
