Group of 7 covers with various frankings and rates comprising 1871 with #150, 151 at 22¢ rate via Southampton, 1871 from Providence R.I. with #151 (4) at sent double the 24¢ NGU rate but actually sent at the 22¢ rate via Southampton, 1871 with #154 (3) but missing two 10¢ stamps for 5-times the 22¢ rate via Southampton; 1874 with #146, 153, 154 at double the 28¢ rate via Brindisi; and 1874 with #146 (2), 153 at the 28¢ rate via Brindisi, and 1880 with #185 at 5¢ UPU rate; covers faulty with stamps in varying condition, Fine.

AN EXCEPTIONAL RESEARCH GROUP OF EARLY MAIL TO BURMA.

This lot of covers was found stuffed inside a bible. The bible was in a box of books that were paper of a lower value stamp collection from the 1950s that was purchased from a local woman and remained until now. Some research notes on Reverend Isaac David Colburn who was born in 1831 at Hudson N.H. At age 16, he was converted and baptized into the Baptist church. He was active in church life and soon the church voted him a license to preach. He began his studies at New Hampton N.H. In 1855, he entered Brown University. He determined to give his life to missions and entered Newton Theological Institution in the class of 1863. After graduation he married Mary, a teacher at the seminary at Townsend Vt. They later went to Burma where his life's work was done, returning home in 1880.
