Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, "Specimen of American Bank Note", engraving, approximately 8½" x 5", featuring vignettes of Washington and Franklin as adapted for the 5¢ & 10¢ 1847 Issue, as well as an Eagle & Shield, the U.S. Capitol Building and an allegory of "Constitution", printed directly on card with the inscription "Engraved for Part 1 of the Patent Office Report of 1850; small stain at the upper left and some toning, still fine and interesting. American Bank Note Co., ca. 1931, sample book of 7 different stamp-type die essays, 10-page booklet (including covers), about 4" x 6", each page with a different die-sunk "stamp" in various allegorical and pictorial designs denominated "1", "2", "3" (2), "5" (2) & "25", each in a different color; originally belonging to abno engraver, Carl T. Arlt, but with later manuscript inscriptions gifting the booklet from another engraver, Charles A. Brooks, to yet another engraver, Edward Felver, on June 24, 1966; minor soiling on the first proof and its facing page, otherwise Very Fine. An interesting chain of ownership. (Image)
