Register of Boats Passing and Weighed on Susquehannah and Tide Water Canal Weight Local at York Furnace, Large bound register (approximately 18" x 10" x 4") containing hundreds of pages, most with the information on 40-50 boats, covers the period 1850-1853, the register includes such information as name of boat, where from, ship master, type of cargo, amount paid, etc., also included is a smaller "Day Book", covers 1857-1866, seems to be names of masters and weight.
Fascinating view into how goods were conveyed in this time period and should be of interest as well to students of inland waterways (Photo). Estimate 1,000 - 1,500 (Image)
