Confederacy, 11-Star Flag. Patriotic design (Dietz 11-5) in red, white & blue with "T. Fitzwilliam, N.O." manufacturer's imprint at left on neat cover to Balies Mills, La., franked with 1861 5¢ green, bottom margin single (large margins) tied by "Corinth, Miss., Mar. 5" (1862) cds, Extremely Fine, a stunning patriotic cover, with 2010 P.F. certificate.
Scott No. 1; Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.

The P.F. declines opinion "with respect to town of origin" however this comes from a well known correspondence from Cornith, Miss to Baileys Mills, La.

Circular datestamp on cover bearing U.S. 1857, 3¢ dull red (26), tied by blue "Louisville Ky., Aug 22" duplex from the Tuthill correspondence originating in Charleston to East Otto N.Y., pencil "2/-" bits (or 25¢) shows Adams fee at top center; some edge wear and couple small edge tear, part of flap missing, F.-V.F., this is a late private express company use.

Cover franked with U.S. 1861, 3¢ rose tied by blue "Sandusky, O., Jun 5, 1865" cds and addressed to Shelbyville, Ill., oval "Prisoner's Letter, Johnsons Island, O., Examined G.F.Y." handstamp, with original enclosure regarding release from prison, forces in Texas surrendering and getting back there, etc., Very Fine, an interesting usage from a Texas P.O.W.
