Single with "Panama" reading down, horizontal pair, pos. 99-100 with nat. bottom s.e. showing right arrow, left stamp having "Panama" read down and right stamp with "Panama" reading up and down, tied by "Canal Zone" bar cancel and matching "Canal, La Roca, Jul 2 1904" origin cds, black "Canal Zone, Cristobal, Jul 2 1904" transit cds also ties stamps, Very Fine and scarce use from La Boca.
Scott No. 1; $1,450 + as used singles.

ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED COVERS SHOWING THE THREE ORIENTATIONS OF THE PANAMA OVERPRINT.

There is only one other cover with three 1¢ stamps showing the overprint reading up, reading down, and reading up and down (pos. 100).
