1940, Famous Americans, small die proofs (Scott 860P2//893P2), an exquisite compilation of 29 of the 35 values, each with captivating color on pristine white wove; 5¢ Alcott with hint of hinge stain at top, 5¢ Reed with small portion of top margin missing (paper-repaired), but still an Extremely Fine group, each proof is scarce of itself; it will be a very long time until you find a near-complete set such as this, ex Alvin W. Hall, Director of the Bureau of Engraving & Printing from 1924 to 1954.
