Isle of Wight. 1818 Entire to London with oval "Ship Letter / (crown) / HALIFAX" applied as a departure mark in Nova Scotia, and boxed step type "SHIP LETTER / ISLE OF WIGHT" probably applied in the London Ship Letter Office. This Ship Letter handstamp was not recorded by Robertson but is shown as type S2 by Tabeart, listed used in 1818 only, probably based upon this single example. A rare and possibly unique ship letter.
