1883, 4¢ deep blue green, Special Printing (Scott 211D), without gum as issued, flawlessly sound with magnificent color and proof-like detail, as perfectly fresh and well-centered as they come, Extremely Fine, Siegel Census #211D-UNC-14, a Top of the Pop, one of just two stamps at this grade (and one of only four graded) in PSE's Population Report and one of the rarest of all the special printings, ex Caspary, with photocopy of 1957 P.F. certificate, plus original 1989 P.F. and 2015 P.S.E. certificates, the last graded XF 90.
SMQ XF 90; $100,000.

Post Office records indicate that a mere 26 examples of this Special Printing were sold. The Philatelic Foundation has certified 25 examples, of which five have small faults.

This stamp comes from the block of four (position 1) sold in the legendary Alfred H. Caspary sale.
