1861, 3¢ pigeon blood pink (Scott 64a), a magnificently clean orange cover, the single cancelled by a brownish red grid and tied by adjacent blue "Woonsocket/DEC/7/R.I." postmark; addressed to Washington, DC, with docketing on reverse reading "Received December 9th, 1861/No 12/(at Camp California)/(near Alexandria)/Virginia"; the stamp with wonderfully vibrant color, the cover crisp and fresh; small toned spot at top of stamp just to the right of "U.S." (noted only on second certificate), a Fine-Very Fine stamp on a Very Fine cover, one to coo over, an early usage, with 1996 and 2007 P.F. certificates.
