Terr.; original letter datelined "Pekin, Cowliltz Co., Washington Territory, May 1st 1872"; reduced slightly at left, some minor soiling and stains, Fine, The only recorded use from this Territorial DPO.
Estimate; $200 - 300.

Martins Bluff post office in Cowlitz County operated only 1868-1879. This settlement is 4 miles southeast of Kalama on the Columbia River, extreme southwest Cowlitz County. It was named by Northern Pacific Railway officials for William S. Martin who settled there in 1872.
