Bold blood-red handstamp with two bars across circle on Feb. 7th 1845 folded letter from the Franklin House to local street address, the letter is datelined 1844 but docketed 1845, which is the accurate year for sequence with the other recorded cover; file folds, Very Fine strike, One of only 12 recorded examples of this Philadelphia Despatch Post handstamp., ex-Hollowbush, Golden, Morris, with 2000 P.F. certificate.
Estimate; $400 - 600.

From December 1842 until June 1844, the only local post in the United States was the Philadelphia Despatch Post.
