Clear full oval date stamp (SCR-710, R5) on cover to Locarno, Switzerland, franked with 3¢ Banknote pair tied by matching fancy star handstamps, transit and receiving backstamps; small cover tear at bottom, a Very Fine and choice strike, the only recorded example of this Davenport T&P postmark.

(Town & Postmaster) Del Mar, Cal., T.M. Loop, P.M., Feb 7, 1886 (San Diego). Bold clear strike of cds (SAN-1020) on fresh cover to San Diego, franked with 1883, 2¢ red brown canceled by fancy intertwined "US Mail" in circle handstamp, Extremely Fine, the earliest postmark from Del Mar and the only recorded example of this T&P postmark.
Scott No. 210; Estimate $200 - 300.

Although located by the sea, as the name suggests, the name stems from the Bayard Taylor's poem "The Fight of Paso de Mar", a folk tale.

Clear receiving cds (SOL-1860) on incoming cover to San Francisco forwarded to Vallejo, bold indistinct origin cds with matching star in circle handstamp tying 3¢ Banknote, S.F. cds with matching "Forwarded" handstamp, reverse with transit cds's and "Unclaimed" in circle handstamp, Very Fine, the only recorded example of this Vallejo T&P postmark.
