Agriculture Dept., 1873, 1¢ yellow. Cancelled by segmented cork cancel and lightly tied on "Department of Agriculture., Official Business" mailing label on December 11th 1873 wrapper to Sugar Grove Pa., pencil docketing "Return Dec 11. 1873", file fold through stamp, Fine and rare wrapper use.
Scott No. O1; $2,500.

This paid the domestic circular rate of 1¢ per 2 oz, the wrappers to Sugar Grove Pa. are unlisted in the Campbell census (Chronicle 194, May 2002) and so this makes eight wrapper recorded and one cover.

William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States, was assassinated on September 6, 1901 inside the Temple of Music on the grounds of the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. He was shaking hands with the public when Leon Czolgosz, an anarchist, shot him twice in the abdomen. McKinley died six days later on September 14 of gangrene caused by the gunshot wounds. He was the third American president to have been assassinated, following Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and James A. Garfield in 1881.
