1901/1903, 1st GERMAN SOUTH POLAR EXPEDITION ("GAUSS" EXPEDITION), clear strike of double ring circular "Deutsche Südpolar Expedition GAUSS" on address side of ppc "DEUTSCHE SÜDPOLAR-EXPEDITION" (showing explorers in Antarctic scenery), dated "St.Vincent Porto Grande 11.9.01" (São Vicente/Kap Verde) with greeting message and signatures of Dr. Friedrich Bidlingmaier (geophysicist and meteorologist), Ernst Vanhöffen (zoologist), Erich von Dygalski (expedition leader and geologist), addressed to the Count von Linden in Stuttgart/Germany with arrival mark 17.X.01, adhesive washed off and due to that only small part of postmark visible.
