From 1840 on. WHISKERS. This collection in working progress (on 137 pages) is part of a FIP GOLD awarded exhibit analyses men's whiskers - facial hair - moustaches, sideburns and beards. Various types and styles of whiskers are considered, as are their symbolism and periodic changes in line with fickle fashion. Barbate personalities are grouped according to their whisker types and the ageing process is expounded. The evolution of the razor and blade, advances in shaving routine and accessories and lotions for whisker care, facial appereance and hygiene are considered. There are many rare and highlight items, e.g. Mulready envelope with advertising, artist drawing, private entires, advertising entires, good classic items, private city post, proofs, varieties and errors, stamp booklets, special cancellations, and further more. In addition, there is a box with further material waiting to be incorporated. An unusual topic, interesting, competent and of lasting value. A tour is recommended!
