Type T1 in Two or Three Lines. 1770 (29 June) entire letter headed "Eden in St. Marys" to John Grant at "Epsom Penn, Spanish Town", rated "7½" for a single letter travelling under 100 miles and showing, on reverse, superb "salt gut" well away from face panel creases. The Post Town Straight Line Handstamps. 1762 (30 Apr.) entire letter (central vertical crease) from Kingston "By the St. Michael, Capt Buller Q.D.C" to London, rated "5" and with Bishop mark (10.9) on reverse; interesting contents include "The Martial Law and Embargo continued here from the 26th January to the 12th. Instant and has been of worst consequence to this Island than an invasion of French and Spaniards, our estates have been left without white people and no supplies of any kind could be sent them" Note: The most important slave revolts first broke out at a plant in northern St. Mary, their leader was a Coromanti (gold slave) known as "Tacky".
