His Majestys Ship Surprise" to Melrose, variously rated for a total of "2/4" and showing partial oval-framed "Ship Letter/Crown/deal" alongside "Ship Letter/Crown/jamaica" handstamp and Scottish transit datestamp in red, London transit datestamp on reverse. The earliest date recorded of the Jamaica Ship Letter handstamp which was in use until 1816. Proud SL2. Photo
