1858 'TASMANIA' London Printings 1/- reprinted die proof in bright carmine with uncleared engine-turning on thin card (42x52mm). A beautiful & technically fascinating proof. Ex Sebastian Earl (illustrated on the front cover), Marcel Stanley and Michael Blake. [It is believed that these proofs were produced by De La Rue from the Perkins Bacon die for the 1870 Paris Exposition]
1863-71 Experimental Separations Pin-Perf 5½-9½ at Longford 1d carmine SG 104, irregular separation at the base, Second Allocation BN '54' of Longford, undercatalogued at £350. Ex Michael Blake. [In our experience, the 1d is much scarcer than the 4d which is priced at £650. We expect the lower figure for the Penny reflects how few examples have come to the market]
