Red boxed "INDIA PAID " and "D.A.a.L." (Diritto Austriaco austriache Lire) handstamp indicating the amount due to the Austrian post office in Austrian Lira. Ms "Per Bendinck Via Triest". Blue "9/9" manuscript accountancy rate further to "10" decimi handstamp, due at destination. On reverse boxed red Genova arrival "30 AGO 56". A RARE ACCOUNTANCY MARKING ON AN INDIAN COVER. India 1902 (23 July) cover from Ghum to FINLAND, re-addressed from Helsinki to Svarta, then back to Helsinki, underfranked by QV ½a. pale yellow-green tied by "GHUM/23 JL" c.d.s., with "T" in circle and Russian "DOPLATA" oval postage due mark at lower left (applied in transit at St. Petersburg, completed in m/s for 16k.), and on the reverse with resp. St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Svarta datestamps. Small stains and minor flap damage but a most unusual and interesting cover - and a scarce destination.
