1945, P.O.W. MAIL - GRAYTOWN, printed notelope, endorsed "Graytown near Nagambie" on reverse, sent via Melbourne, 15.OCT.1945, to Hamburg in Germany, 'APPROVED FOR TRANSMISSION BY CAMP COMMANDANT' h/s on the face and appr. censor markings.
The sender Hellmut Jentsch was a crew member from the German raider "Kormoran" that on 19.11.1941 had sunk HMS "Sydney" off the coast of Western Australia - "the most grievous loss suffered by the Royal Australian Navy". Scarce military and postal history item!
