1890 Emberlin & Son, UK 'The Wonderland Postage Stamp-Case' by Lewis Carroll, comprising a hessian-backed paper slip-case with an image of Alice in Wonderland holding a child and on the reverse the Cheshire Cat in a tree, a cardboard 'case' with Alice now holding a pig (!) and the cat vanishing on the reverse with spaces for stamps of varying denominations to 1/- inside, a small booklet 'Eight or Nine Wise Words About Letter-Writing' by Lewis Carroll, and the original flimsy envelope which housed it all. Quite wonderful!

1892 brass box with advertising on lid 'AFTER ALL, CHATEAU TANUNDA BRANDY, IS THE BEST', inscribed on inner lid 'KEEP YOUR STAMPS HERE/Patented Oct.11.1892', a little edge wear from regular use. Very fine & attractive, and not previously seen by us. [Most stamp boxes were manufactured overseas; Colonial examples are rarely seen. Chateau Tanunda was established in 1890 in South Australia's Barossa Valley, and is still operating]
