PO 1822. The postage charge in Dutch currency rather than British Sterling indicates this letter was sent prior to the 1826 Ordinance for the Better Regulation of the Post Office ... established revised postage rates in sterling, the rate from Cradock to Cape Town being 13d (1/1d) per single sheet.
