POSTAL HISTORY: 1) 1802 (April) Norwegian legal entire datelined "Bergen" to Brecke endorsed "KD" (Kongelig Dienst = Royal Service), light vertical filing fold, mss "5" on the reverse means "Number 5 on the Mailing List"; and 2) 1861 unstamped Danish entire endorsed "KTSmA" (= Royal Letter sent with Reply") with 'FREDERICIA' cds & very fine Customs wax seal 'FREDERICIA TOLDSTED/.../No 2' on the reverse. Ex Hans Karman. [Until 1814, Norway was in a union with Denmark. On the losing side in the Napoleonic Wars, Denmark was forced in 1814 to cede Norway to Sweden]
