POSTAL HISTORY: 1846 (May 30) inwards stampless entire from Scotland addressed to "Rev Henry Nisbet, Upolu, Samoa, care of Dr Ross, Sydney" with 'GLASGOW/PAID/30 MY N/1846' cds in red and London 'PAID/LO/1 JU 1/1846' below on face rated "1/-" packet letter rate, on arrival largely fine 'SHIP LETTER/[crown]/OC*6/1846/SYDNEY' struck on back and rated "3" for the Colonial ship letter charge, light central fold & minor aging marks. Ex Dr Tony Orchard. Carried by Toulmin Bros packet service on the 'Trafalgar' departing 29.6.1846 via Cape of Good Hope arriving at Sydney 8.10.1846, where delivered to Dr Ross as agent and presumably forwarded privately - possibly on the London Missionary Society's own ship - to Samoa.
