1865 (Nov 24) Cover from Hamilton to London "p mail via Halifax pd" with 1/- (a few trimmed perfs at right), tied by "2" type K1 numeral, "BERMUDA / H / PAID" c.d.s alongside, red London Paid arrival c.d.s and "11" credit to the British Post Office. A fine and rare early cover; the first Bermuda stamps were issued in September 1865 with only about six 1865 stamped covers recorded. Ex Tucker (sold for £1,050 in 1978). Photo on Page 20. Carried on the only voyage of the "Magnolia", the final sailing of the Quebec & Gulf Ports S.S. Co before its second contract was cancelled by the British Government. A few minor stains but scarce. 1877 Fronts of wrappers to the publisher Kemeys de Barnardy & Co in London, sent at the Book Post rate of 2d per 2oz, the first endorsed "Book Post" and sent at the 8d rate franked by 1d pale rose single and vertical pair + 2d + 3d (trimmed perfs at left); the second with two horizontal pairs of the 1d rose paying the 4d rate.
