Photographic Society of London 1931 bronze medal (64mm) edge engraved 'WILLIAM DELANO WALKER. EXHIBITION. 1931', obv. Apollo riding quadriga above clouds, torch in hand, 'W.J. TAYLOR LONDON' (engraver), '1853' at base, rev. Prince Consort patron, in original case. Dr. William Delano Walker RAF of Port Pirie, formerly House Surgeon at Adelaide General Hospital, was awarded this medal for a series of photographs illustrating the life history of the kangaroo, he also held an exhibition showcasing a series of aborigines. Walker died in August 1938 aboard an RAF plane that crashed in Yorkshire, England. (Image1)
