At this point we were only 20 yds from the Turks trenches/Tpr HE Birch 2nd LH Regt wounded Quinns Post 7th August 1915 invalided Australia 29th Nov 1915", a couple of minor blemishes. Outstanding! [The attack on Quinn's Post was part of the disastrous Battle of the Nek; after 49 of the 50 Light Horsemen in the first wave were killed or wounded, the regimental commander cancelled further attacks. The offensive failed to break the deadlock and it proved to be the last major attack launched by the Allied forces on the peninsula. They were evacuated after only another four pointless but cold & miserable months]
