1848-O Liberty PCGS VF25. This was lot 158 in Coin and Currency Sale #15 wherein it was described as: "scarce issue with only 35,850 coins minted, and as the grade indicates, it was struck at a time when many of the gold issues entered circulation. Potential bidders should consider that this coin is a hundred times rarer than the common dates, but not that much more expensive." The estate that currently owns the coin is now being liquidated hence the present offering. (Image)

1908-D No Motto Indian XF. A beautiful unblemished example of the No Motto variety, lightly worn but attractive in all respects. It's been quite some time since we offered a No Motto Indian eagle. It may be of interest to know that the 1908-D version (both No Motto and w/ Motto varieties) represents a unique "one-year" sub-type for the Indian series in that the mintmark is large and appears ABOVE the olive sprig. All of the 1909 and later mintmarked pieces show it as a smaller letter and BELOW the olive sprig. (Image)

1914-S St Gaudens PCGS "Brilliant Uncirculated". The first this cataloger has ever seen of this type of "prospector" holder for PCGS. A numerical grade is not assigned but "Brilliant Uncirculated" appears on the slab insert, and a serial number is shown. The coin has a few marks but is very attractive and would probably straight grade as an MS62, perhaps MS63. Inspect! (Image)

1899-S Liberty AU. First of this issue we have handled. With a PCGS certified population of 1,084 coins, it is not rare in an absolute sense, but consider that the more "common" issues in this series often have populations over 10,000. (Image)
1909-D Indian MS60+ w/ a strong mintmark and excellent eye-appeal. There is a 3mm rev planchet flaw below "OF" in the legend. It's level of distraction will vary from collector to collector. (Image)
