Cat No:Lafayette $1

Lafayette $1 1900 AU Cleaned at one time showing residual hairlines. Still nice light grey color. For a mintage on only 36,026, four different obverse and five different reverse dies were used to strike Lafayette Dollars. This created six different varieties for this coin. The present example is a combination of Obv-2 (doubling on 2nd "S" in STATES, and 2nd "A" in AMERICA) and Rev-C (14 leaves on sprig w/ lowest leaf right of 9). This variety is listed as very rare in the literature on the subject. (Image)
