1885-CC MS63 frosty and blast white. Rev looks MS66. Obv has a hairline scratch going from Liberty's temple through the eye and out to the rim at E PLUR. Still nice despite the minor flaw. (Image)

1889-CC XF45 comes w/ the PCGS label indicating this grade from the plastic slab that supposedly once held this coin. The appearance is original but there are a few rev scratches in the left wing and field left of the eagle. These scratches may have occurred when the coin was removed its holder. However, they are only plainly evident upon magnification. The 89-CC is a rare coin in high grade. (Image)

1890-S & 1891-S both frosty MS60+ w/ some obv bagmarks. The "look" and condition of these coins suggests that they were likely part of the Redfield Hoard though there is no definite way to prove this.

Cat No:1893S
1893-S VF+ perhaps better. Lightly hairlined from an earlier cleaning, the coin is light grey and still maintains an original appearance. The diagnostic die scratch on the T in LIBERTY is plainly evident guaranteeing its authenticity. The 1893-S is a scarce coin in any grade - prohibitively so in AU or higher. The undisputed king of the Morgan $1 series, the original mintage was only 100,000 the overwhelming majority of which entered circulation as silver dollars were used in daily commerce on the west coast during the time of this coin's striking. In the late-1950's a roll of 93-S's were found in an uncirculated bag of 1894-S's and these 20 coins account for the majority of the uncirculated specimens known today. (Unc pieces easily bring $125k and up.) This offering presents are rare opportunity for the Morgan silver dollar specialist to acquire the series key in nice mid-grade condition. A must-see! (Image)

Cat No:1894
1894 nice AU showing ample high point detail but dipped to pure white w/ residual hairlines evident mostly on the rev. The 94-P is one of the keys to the Morgan series. Its low mintage (110,000) is due mostly to the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890. Grover Cleveland, elected President in 1892, was no friend of the Sherman Act and had repealed soon after he took office in 1893. The subsequent reduction in the money supply resulted in economic recession in 1894-95, which allowed the opposing party (those favoring free coinage of silver) to prevail on many political issues of the day. Though the Sherman Act remained repealed, coinage of silver dollars in large quantities began again in 1896 in conjunction with the resumption of Silver Certificates as paper money. (Image)

1895-S VF+ by wear perhaps better. A scarce issue usually found in very low grade. However, this coin has been cleaned with residual hairlines evident on both sides. Given the ample detail it may still represent a good opportunity for the right collection. (Image)

1899 MS60+ a few marks but still a nice example of this scarce issue. Rev is lightly toned and semi-prooflike. It was once believed that the 1899-P mintage of 330,000 was an error and that the actual mintage was much higher. But experience has proven this issue is genuinely scarce relative to the common dates in the series. Even circulated example are seldom encountered compared to the dates that are common. Take advantage of the opportunity this offering presents. (Image)

Cat No:1903O
1903-O MS60+ white. A very nice coin that has been carelessly wiped leaving very light obv hairlines visible w/ magnification. Still an attractive coin and a great example of this scarce issue. Once the rarest Morgan of all priced at about $1,500 in the early 60's, bags were discovered during the great Treasury release of silver dollars in 1962-64. Almost overnight, the price of the 1903-O plummeted to that of the common dates. Today, we recognize this date as being a bit better, but high-grade examples can be located without significant effort. When located, the 1903-O is usually found well-struck and attractive, adding to its overall appeal. (Image)

Cat No:1903S
1903-S VF or very nearly so. No doubt this coin was dipped at one time but it is still acceptable. Who ever said that the silver dollar was an unpopular coin that did not circulate as a medium of exchange? This date is notorious for being particularly scarce above XF and prohibitively rare uncirculated leading to the conclusion that most of the mintage (1.2 million) of this issue went into circulation almost immediately in the San Francisco area and other locations in the far western part of the country. The typical 1903-S encountered is very well-worn, much more so than the present example. The total mintage of silver dollars certainly exceeded the number needed, but it is clear from the wear on so many of these coins that they were clearly useful in the channels of commerce especially in the south and west.
