1905-12 Picture Postcards franked ½d, all with steamer cachets, comprising scarce "TAY PLEASURE, STEAMER / MARCHIONESS OF BUTE" on card with KEVII ½d just tied by a machine cancel, oval "GLASGOW & SOUTH WESTERN RLY / P.S / 3 JUL 1905 / JUNO / STEAM VESSELS" on card cancelled at Ayr, oval "R.M.S "LORD OF THE ISLES / 18 SEP 1905"" on card cancelled at Greenock, oval "CALEDONIAN STEAM PACKET Co / P.S / DUCHESS OF / HAMILTON / LIMITED" on 1907 card cancelled at Gourock, 1912 card with circular belted "POSTED ON BOARD S.S FAIRY QUEEN / LOCH ECK / ARGYLLSHIRE" on 1912 card cancelled at Glasgow, the last cachet in black, the others in violet. Mars. 1904 Picture Postcard headed from "Rothesay Bay, writing this on board the steamer The Mars", a KEVII ½d cancelled at Greenock, with superb oval "GLASGOW & SOUTH WESTERN RLY / P.S / 20 AUG 1904 / MARS / STEAM VESSELS" in violet. One of the rarest of all the Scottish steamer cachets, just two other examples recorded (both sold at auction within the last two years, for £900 and £920 respectively). Photo on Page 74. (Image1)
