Mint and Used Collections, from Classics to the 1990s, on pages, in binders, in albums, 102 cards, glassines, etc, filling a wine box. This lot includes a significant number of stamps from specific countries in Asia, namely: Israel, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Philippines and Turkey. Some highlights include the Turkey Scenic Views issues of 1958 to 1960 complete, we counted out the 134 stamps and spot tested them to be never hinged. This lot is derived from a number of sources and it will be possible to assemble quite good collections of Japan, Israel and Turkey. Modest collections could be assembled for Laos, Lebanon and Philippines. We estimate the total number of stamps for each country to be as follows; Israel 1,300, Japan 2,500, Laos 300, Lebanon 400, Philippines 700 and Turkey 2,000 for a grand total of over 7,000 stamps. We note better representation from China (including Chinese Imperial Post issues and a small selection of PRC), Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Laos, and Vietnam. The stamps generally range from the 1930s to the 1970s, with some issues on both sides of the given range. A spot check of stamps indicated a few issues cataloguing $10 and higher, along with selections of Airmails, Postage Dues, etc. A good opportunity for finds by the specialist. Collections / Accumulations of Mint and Used Europe in 12 Binders, consisting of a few thousand stamps, and many souvenir sheets, in several Vario-style and personal pages. We note better representation from Spain and area, Portugal and area, Greece, Italy, Channel Islands and Ireland. A spot check of the lot showed the majority of stamps are a mixture of mint and used from the 1930s up to 2016, along with some used examples pre-1930 from some countries. Better items include Scott #s: Spain 776-779 (n.h., c.v. $375 total); Greece C5-C7 (m.h., c.v. $118 total), Italy #142A (identified by owner, m.h., c.v. $425), along with material cataloguing $10 and up, with opportunities for other finds for the diligent collector. The lot also includes roughly 250 souvenir sheets, the vast majority post 2000, with better representation from Spain (roughly 175 in total), Jersey (roughly 40 in total), and Ireland (roughly 20 in total). Mint and Used Collections and Accumulations, from Classics to About the 1980s. This is a large lot comprised of two albums, three larger stockbooks as well as hundreds of album pages in binders or loose. There are a couple of hundred stamps from Estonia in a stockbook, these largely from the inter-war years. The Hungary segment of the lot consists of a collection in an older Schaubek album, stamps hinged to old album pages as well as a stockbook and includes a few classics and numerous Turul issues. The Poland portion is comprised of a mostly used collection on older album pages from 1919 to the 1980s with many loose stamps, an old Safe album with stamps from the early 1960s and a thick stockbook with a large stock of stamps in catalogue order. The Romania material is mostly hinged to album pages with many stamps in 102 cards between the pages, and includes classics. The Russia also consists of stamps hinged to pages, including classics. Overall, this lot offers plenty of stamps to work through with our estimate of more than 12,000 stamps in all. The material is derived from a number of sources and has quite good variety. This lot contains quite good variety, with the potential for a decent collections from Czechoslovakia, Greece and Romania. We estimate the total number of stamps for the individual countries to be as follows; Albania 300, Bulgaria 600, Czechoslovakia 6,000, Greece 3,500, Hungary 1,500, Poland 5,500, Romania 2,000 and Russia 3,000 for a grand total of over 22,000 stamps. Better stamps include Bulgaria #s 1 (mint c.v. $150), 4 (used c.v. $120) and 27 (mint c.v. $50), Serbia #s 2N1-2N15 (mint c.v. $70) and 2NC1 to 2NC10 (mint c.v. $113), Yugoslavia #s 452-60 mint c.v. $51) and C55 (mint c.v. $190) plus plenty more. This lot has a high proportion of mint to used and has many complete sets. We estimate the number of stamps by country to be: Albania 500, Bulgaria 800, Croatia 300, Czechoslovakia 1,300, Serbia 300, Romania 3,100, Yugoslavia 1,200 plus a smattering of others for a total of about 7,500 stamps. These auction lots tend to start in the $20 range of old catalogue values and are often comprised of sets, singles, part sets or small groupings of stamps from the same country / period. The Germany portion is particularly intriguing with many stamps from the German Colonies, States and Offices Abroad, notably; China. This is a huge offering with over 360 lots in all, with an owner's old total catalogue value of $46,104. Although there are many images included for this group, there are numerous high cataloguing lots not shown. It includes many Helvetias and early semi-postals. The Austria portion consists of a neatly annotated collection on quadrille pages beginning with classics plus additional material. The Liechtenstein material also comes in the form of a collection on older album pages with additional material. Belgium and Netherlands and Their Colonies, Mint and Used Collections / Accumulations, Classics to 1990s, on older album pages, in binders, on stock pages, in 102 cards, glassines, etc., all filling two wine boxes. Netherlands has the greatest quantity of material and is derived from more than a dozen sources. This portion includes several collections on older album pages including in an old Davo album. We noted numerous well-centered postmarks. We estimate the Netherlands, along with it's colonies, to total over 10,000 stamps. For the Belgium segment of this lot, there is a collection on quadrille pages as well as a collection on older album pages. We estimate there to be more than 2,000 stamps from Belgium, Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. Included also are some decent collections from the modern nations of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia and Rwanda. We estimate these modern countries to comprise over 2,000 stamps.
