ITALIAN STATES - PARMA - THE PAOLO VOLLMEIER POSTAL HISTORY COLLECTION

1452-1843, Award-winning exhibition collection neatly and knowledgeably mounted on 124 pages from the very early years to the middle of the 19th century.
Highlights include several very early 15th century items with examples of the very first manuscript postal markings, section of 16th century covers replete with famous signatures including Cardinal Farnese, Archduchess Margaret of Austria, Baron Concino, Lelio Torelli, Tiberio Cerado, and more.
Wide range of postal forms including a number of internal communications plus the more usual receipts, and various notices.
Extensive selection of postal markings including the fancy 1786 cursive PARMA in red on several items, then re-introduction of the usage of postal markings from 1804 onwards after interruption due to the French revolution, with small-type boxed PARMA in red, ESENZIONE franchise handstamps, PORTO PAGATO, French department TARO section including numerous P.P. handstamps.
Other sections include 1814 provisional gouvernment period, Maria Luigia d'Austria reign from 1816, extensive and specialised Borgo San Domino section with items from 1478 onwards including a rare Déboursé marking, also Busserto, Castel San Giovanni, Fiorenzola, Guastalla, Monticelli and Piacenza (including Déboursé Piacenza and Déboursé Plaisance)

An extraordinary collection of the highest caliber.

1943 Imperial Series Postage: 10C Brown, 20C Carmine, 25C Dark green, 30C Brown, 50C Violet, 5C Brown Romulus and Remus, 15C Grey-green, 35C Blue, 75C Carmine, 1L Violet, 1L25 Blue, 1L75 Orange, 2L Red, 5L Carmine-red and 10L Violet, each overprinted in four lines "Italia / Repubblicana / Fascista / Base Atlantica, unused with original gum and hinged.
Imperial Series Airs: 25C Green, 50C Dark Brown, 75C Yellow-Brown, 1L Violet, 5L Green and 10L Carmine, each overprinted in four lines "Italia / Repubblicana / Fascista / Base Atlantica, unused with original gum and hinged.
Also five USED examples (one postage and four Espresso) cancelled by FORZE SUBACQUEE ITALIANE IN ATLANTICO / 11.10.43 cds in violet
These 26 essays were prepared under the authority of the High Command of the Italian Submarine Forces in November 1943 but were eventually not authorised for issue apart from the first group of five values (10C, 20C, 25C, 30C and 50C). Each value with separate certificate Sergio Sismondo (2017).
