Russian Revolution and Civil War » Black Sea. 1919 (March 15) Postcard from Odessa to Milan, posted through the post office on board the R.N. "Roma" (giving assistance and repatriating Italians escaping from the Russian Revolution), with "Leoni" 5c & 10c tied by cds of the battleship and its censorship "Censura/R.N. Roma" in two lines, arrival cds below; some slight soiling. Very rare. (Image)

1919 (March 20) Italian Navy free postage postcard from Odessa, with "R. Nave Roma" cds and "Censura/R.N. Roma" two-line censorship handstamp, a very rare mail from this battleship in the Black Sea repatriating Italians who abandoned Russia as a result of the revolution. (Image)

1919 (May 14) Postcard from Ekaterinodar (Krasnodar) to Rome, sent by one of the officials who travelled with Italian battleships to ports of the Black Sea to rimpatriate or give assistance to con-nationals after the fall of the Czarist Empire; the mail from these officials was franked by the sender (in this case "Leoni" 10c) and conveyed by ship to Constantinople where it was tied by the military P.M. 15 cds, also tied on arrival. The only example recorded. (Image)
