Plebiscite of Eastern Silesia. 1920 (March-April) Two postcards from Teschen and Orlova to Italy from members of the Italian contingent, one bearing on reverse "Battaglione Alpini" unit cachet and franked on front with 50pf, the other including in the text: "From Orlova, to where I have been transferred at the command of a detachment", with overprinted 5pf in mixed franking with Czechoslovakia 20pf, which was not admitted by the Teschen P.O. and therefore the franking was uncancelled on dispatch, with Teschen cds at left, the franking being tied on arrival. A very rare duo. (Image)
